Description
Directional Drilling Services in San Marino, CA
Welcome to Directional Boring California. If you are looking for a way to install utilities underground without tearing up your beautiful landscape, you have come to the right place. We are a development and engineering company, and we specialize in Directional Drilling and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) right here in San Marino and the greater Los Angeles area.
We know that San Marino is known for its stunning homes, manicured lawns, and historic charm. The last thing anyone wants to do is dig a massive trench through a driveway or a prize-winning rose garden just to run a water line or conduit. That’s where we come in.
What is Directional Drilling?
You might hear people call it "trenchless technology." We like to think of it as "surgery for the ground." Instead of digging a long, open ditch to lay pipes or cables, we use a specialized drill to bore a path underground.
It starts at one specific point and pops out at the destination, leaving the surface in between completely untouched. It’s clean, efficient, and much faster than traditional digging methods.
We often use this method for:
- Electrical conduits
- Water and sewer lines
- Gas lines
- Fiber optic cables
- Telecommunications wiring
Why Choose Directional Boring California?
We aren't just a crew with a drill. We are a fully licensed development and engineering company. We hold both General A Engineering Contractor and General B Contractor licenses in California. This means we understand the big picture of construction and engineering, not just the drilling part.
One thing we are incredibly proud of is our background. We are a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE). Our military background taught us discipline, precision, and the importance of doing a job right the first time.
When you hire us, you are hiring a team that holds several key certifications:
DVBE (Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise)
SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business)
PDBE (Port of Long Beach Disadvantaged Business Enterprise)
SB-Micro (Small Business Micro)
* SB-PW (Small Business Public Works)
These aren't just acronyms to us. They represent our commitment to service and reliability. Whether you are a homeowner in San Marino or a project manager for a larger Los Angeles infrastructure project, these certifications offer you peace of mind.
How the Process Works
We try to make this as simple as possible for you.
- Planning: We look at the site. In San Marino, we have to be careful about existing utilities and tree roots. We plan the bore path carefully.
- The Pilot Hole: We drill a small pilot hole along the planned path. We can steer the drill bit around obstacles like rocks or other pipes.
- Reaming: Once we reach the other side, we swap the drill bit for a tool called a "reamer." We pull this back through the hole to make it big enough for your pipe.
- Pullback: Finally, we pull the pipe or conduit through the hole.
And just like that, your utility line is installed, and your driveway is still perfect.
Understanding the Cost
We believe in being upfront, though giving an exact price without seeing the job is tough. However, we can tell you what factors will change the cost.
- Soil Conditions: Drilling through soft dirt is easier (and cheaper) than drilling through solid rock.
- Distance: Longer bores take more time and materials.
- Diameter: A 1-inch conduit is easier to install than a 12-inch sewer pipe.
- Obstacles: If we need to navigate around a lot of existing utilities, it takes more time and precision.
While directional drilling might sometimes seem more expensive upfront than digging a trench, you have to remember the restoration costs. With trenching, you have to pay to repave the driveway, replant the grass, or fix the sidewalk. With us, you skip those restoration costs almost entirely.
