Description
Directional Drilling Services in Manhattan Beach, CA
Welcome to Directional Boring California. If you are looking to install utilities underground without tearing up your beautiful landscaping, driveway, or the local streets, you have come to the right place. We specialize in Directional Drilling—also known as Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)—right here in Manhattan Beach and the greater Los Angeles area.
We know that construction projects can feel stressful. Nobody wants to see a massive trench cut through their front yard. That is why we love what we do. We offer a cleaner, faster, and less intrusive way to get the job done.
What Is Directional Drilling?
Think of directional drilling as "trenchless" technology. Instead of digging a big, long ditch from point A to point B, we use a special drill rig to bore a path underground. It is almost like threading a needle beneath the surface.
We can install conduits for power, water, gas, or telecommunications without disturbing the surface. Whether you are a homeowner, a business owner, or a city planner, this method saves your hardscapes and saves you time.
Why Choose Directional Boring California?
We aren't just guys with a drill. We are a fully licensed development and engineering company. specifically, we hold General A Engineering and General B Contractor licenses in California. This means we understand the big picture of your construction project, not just the hole in the ground.
One thing we are incredibly proud of is our status as a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE). We bring military discipline, integrity, and precision to every single job site. When we say we will be there, we will be there.
In addition to being a DVBE, we hold several other certifications that speak to our credibility and commitment to service:
- SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business)
- PDBE (Port of Long Beach/Los Angeles Disadvantaged Business Enterprise)
- SB-Micro (Small Business Micro)
- SB-PW (Small Business Public Works)
These certifications aren't just acronyms. They represent our dedication to hard work and meeting high standards. When you hire us, you are supporting a veteran-owned business that cares about the local community.
How The Process Works
If you haven't hired a drilling contractor before, you might be wondering how it actually works. We keep it simple.
- The Plan: First, we look at the job site. In Manhattan Beach, we have to be careful of sand conditions and existing utilities. We map out a safe path (the "bore path").
- The Pilot Hole: We drill a small pilot hole from the starting point to the end point. We track the drill head electronically the whole time to ensure it stays on course.
- Reaming: Once the drill rod comes out the other side, we attach a "reamer." We pull this back through the hole to make it large enough for your pipe or conduit.
- Pullback: Finally, we pull the pipe through the enlarged hole.
Just like that, your new utility line is installed, and your sidewalk is still intact.
Factors That Affect Cost
We believe in being transparent. While we can't give an exact price without seeing your specific project, there are a few things that usually influence the cost of Directional Drilling services.
- Soil Conditions: Drilling through soft sand is different than drilling through hard rock or heavy clay. Manhattan Beach soil can vary, and that changes the equipment we need.
- Length and Depth: Longer and deeper bores take more time and materials.
- Diameter: The size of the pipe you need installed matters. A 2-inch conduit is easier to install than a 12-inch water main.
- Location Constraints: Working in a tight alley is more complex than working in an open field.
